“Her sense of playfulness, especially her use of crescent moons and dazzling suns, invites comparison with Klee and Miró. There are echoes of Rothko too . . . The references are more suggestive than specific, though. Pasquarelli has become bolder and more willing to use shocking color combinations, but her language is entirely her own. It has become richer in its ability to stimulate responses from the viewer, whether emotional or purely optical.”
